Learning Through Play in the Inclusive Classroom (200-250)
Through your readings, you have learned about the developmental theories of Piaget, Vygotsky, and Erikson. 1. Choose one of the theorists and give a brief summary of the developmental theory. 2. Describe the relationship between that theory and play. 3. Apply the theory to your interactions with children. 4. Provide a specific example of how you can use this theory to promote a child’s development of cognitive, language, physical, social, and emotional skills during play. 5. Parents often question the value of play in the school day. They are concerned with too much play and not enough learning. Using the developmental domains and standards for your state as a guide, defend the skills children learn while playing with puppets in the dramatic play area.
