Thus far in the course, you have learned about different types of conflict, resolution strategies and models, team conflicts, team building and trust, and the importance of effective leadership in managing conflict and teams.

On the basis of your organizational leadership experience and the information accumulated in this course:

  1. Identify three possible dissertation research topics related to the subject of this course.
  2. Discuss some of the problems or opportunities that each of these three studies would address.

Offer specific suggestions for research and support these suggestions with a rationale, research sources, and/or example from your experience in teams or groups.

The paper Action Research and Brief Research is included in the Module 8 readings, although no specific assignments are made in terms of research. This paper, along with Chapters 36 and 37 in the course textbook The Handbook of Conflict Resolution, provide information relative to findings, problems, and questions that are amenable to conducting research. In your studies, always be alert to relevant and appropriate dissertation topics that may emerge; conflict management could be a potential focus for your research.
