Visit Land Use in Pinchot Lab (accessible through the Labs section of Contemporary Environmental Issues) and complete the virtual lab. In this lab you will apply the scientific method to examine how thresholds of land use changes such as deforestation and urban sprawl can impact communities, predator/prey relationships, species diversity, and quality of life in human communities.
In order to complete this lab, download the Land Use in Pinchot Lab Instructions and Land Use in Pinchot Lab Data Table. Answer the Lab Questions at the end of the Land Lab Instructions. Save it as a Word document and submit it.

Laboratory 2: Land Use in Pinchot (Alternative)
Instructions
Write a paper based on either the historical examination of the “Russian Thistle,” also known as tumble weeds, and their impact on the American West or based on the impact of the Coqui’s (a tree frog indigenous to Puerto Rico) on the tree frog population in Hawaii, to where they have been introduced over the last 30 years.
The paper must be two pages in length and formatted according to APA style. You must use at least one recent scholarly source other than the textbook to support your points. Cite your source in text and on the reference page. For information regarding APA samples and tutorials, visit the Ashford Writing Center, within the Learning Resources tab on the left navigation toolbar.
