Select a culture (other than your own) to RESEARCH.  Understanding the factors that make us who we are, helps us understand why it is important to be competent while working with people who are different from ourselves.   Culture is defined as a social group’s “design for living.”  Aspects of culture include: sense of self and space, communication and language, dress and appearance, food and eating habits, time and time consciousness, relationships, family and friends, values and norms, beliefs and attitudes, mental processes and learning style, and work habits and practices. 

Type a summary of your findings (approximately 2-3 double- spaced typed pages).  The reader should get a general education about your selected culture.
Be sure to document your findings with a reference list.   Place in your portfolio (folder with pockets).
