Read The Adventures of Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll
In "Lewis Carroll's Shifting Reputation," (available via Smithsonian.com) Jenny Woolf discusses the "widening chasm between how modern readers perceive the author and how they receive his work."
Given what you've found in your own research about Dodgson and the Victorian world,
how might a person in 2016 read Carroll's "Alice" writings differently than one from Victorian England?
Using a close reading of one or two passages, compose a short essay of 2-3 pages that compares/contrasts the work within the contexts of the two contemporary times (to Carroll/Dodgson and to us).
