Composition of Paper #1

Format and Grammar:

Papers should be typed in 12 point, Times New Roman or Arial font, double spaced with no more than 1 inch margins on the top, bottom, left, and right sides of the page. Include centered page numbers on the bottom of each page. Papers should use American Psychological Association (APA) sixth edition format. This format is to be used for citations in the text and the reference list towards the end of the text. Papers should use proper punctuation, spelling, and grammar. Look for and correct run-on and incomplete sentences. Use spell check! Papers should be written in a formal style in the third person, past tense. Write in an objective format. Refrain from writing in a subjective format by starting or using sentences with “I,” “me,” or “we.” Be sure to cite sources in the text. If you take a direct quote from a source, you must use quotation marks and provide a proper citation. If you paraphrase or summarize the work of someone else, you must provide a proper citation. Failure to use proper citations may be deemed plagiarism and may result in you receiving a significant grade reduction (including a failing course grade). Each paper must include a reference page. The title, abstract and reference page should always be listed on separate pages from the text of the paper. Center the word “REFERENCES” in all-caps at the top of the page. The approximate length of the paper should be 7-8 pages (No longer, double spaced). Paper length includes title page, references, and any appendices.

The paper must give proper credit to the work of others. A minimum of four (4) sources must be used. All sources included in the REFERENCE section must be cited in the body of the text.
