There are stories of sacrifice, bondage and exodus, and survival in the wilderness that are an integral part of the Jewish tradition. This paper compares and contrasts the plots of some of these stories with secular stories that have similar themes. In addition, the researcher discusses the significance of the secular stories for the intended audiences. The paper also highlights commonly held assumptions or biases of audiences who are not the target audiences, and their perceptions on such stories.
