Intro to the american family
Assignment 3: Family Analysis
The purpose of this assignment is to explain the upheaval in modern family formation. The assignment is divided into two parts. In Part I, you will recognize patterns of mate selection and union formation. In Part II, you will describe the impact of tensions among family members on individual and family well-being.
Part I
Create a three generation genogram using the template provided, or you can make a template that better fits your family. Do your best to include dates of birth and death, place of birth, divorce, and occupation for each family member. Then, analyze your family history for evidence to either support or refute the notion of homogamy(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homogamy) in your family. Based on the variables ethnicity, class, and religion, categorize the patterns of relationships in terms of homogeneity. Submit your Genogram andHomogamy Analysis under theAssignments tab. This is due Sunday of Lesson 6.
*You may share your genogram with the class in the Lesson 6 forum if you choose.
