International Business Law Term Paper
The Final Paper should demonstrate a basic understanding of the international legal environment and how this environment influences management and business decisions. This essay should also include analysis of the topic and an application of legal concepts and appropriate case law.
Focus of the Final Paper
Submit a 9- to 11 page paper (not including the title and reference pages) on one of the topics below. You should incorporate relevant legal concepts and appropriate cases to analyze, explain, and support your writing.
a.The impact of GATs, TRIMs, and TRIPs on global trade.
b.The effect of unfair competition laws on global trade.
c.The effect that international law on product liability and negligence have on global trade.
d.The legal impact multinational trade agreements have on global trade.
e.The effectiveness of international commercial law on international business transactions.
f.The ability of international intellectual property organizations to effectively provide global protection for intellectual property.
g.The impact of international licensing regulations on intellectual property.
h.The impact of the CISG on international business transactions.
i.The effect that different tax laws have on international business decisions.
j.The ability of international law to control corrupt business practices.
The paper must address the following:
•Analyze the selected topic/issue from at least two different perspectives, one being the viewpoint of either the European or Asian market;
•Analyze how the issue impacts trade in a foreign market;
•Analyze how the issue affects global and/or domestic trade;
•Apply legal concepts covered in the course;
•Apply legal cases to develop the analysis; and
•Provide an opinion relating to the topic.
Research
Students must incorporate at least five scholarly sources. You are encouraged to use Westlaw, which is available through the Ashford University Library. It is a research tool specific to the subject area of law. It contains legal articles, legal encyclopedias, journals, statutes, and written case law from the United States and Europe. Of course, other credible research sources will also be acceptable.
Students should also consider using the websites listed as recommended reading for this course, as well as other credible sources from the Ashford University Library databases that may support their writing.
Writing the Final Paper
The Final Paper:
1.Must be 9- to 11 double-spaced pages in length (not including the title and reference pages), and formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.
2.Must include a title page with the following:
- Title of paper
- Student’s name
- Course name and number
- Instructor’s name
- Date submitted
3.Must begin with an introductory paragraph that has a succinct thesis statement.
4.Must address the topic of the paper with critical thought.
5.Must end with a conclusion that reaffirms your thesis.
6.Must use at least five scholarly resources, in addition to the text. This can include multiple cases, journals, etc, that are retrieved through a single research source such as Westlaw.
7.Must document all sources in APA style, as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.
8.Must include, on the final page, a Reference Page that is completed according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.
