interface designed course

I need someboddy to write 2 pages on answering a question.

the question is 

(( You go to work for a company and they put you on a project right away. The project is to develop an interface that is efficient and effective for the current system. Currently the interface collects some of the correct data and some that is not needed. The reporting functionality is not accurate causing some problems with auditing through various organizations. What would you do and how would you go about fixing this problem and what steps would you take to develop a solution that would benefit your new employer? 

(HINT: This should take approximately 2 pages double spaced at least.)
