Initial Thesis Statement
Assignment 2: Initial Thesis Statement
Over the next few weeks we will be working on a single research paper. As you might expect, knowing what you want to say can have a positive effect on what you end up saying. A clear working thesis, often called a hypothesis, is your paper’s primary claim. It should be a single sentence with no conjunctions. It should not be too broad or too narrow, and not a fact or a feeling. It is not a topic or a question. For this project, your thesis statement should be a claim that can be supported by university-level peer-reviewed research.
By Saturday, June 1, 2013, post your proposed thesis statement, Then, respond to your peers’ posts by Wednesday, June 5, 2013.
Your responses to your peers' writing should be a good paragraph in length and should include specifics from the text if you are attempting to make a point. Help your peers refine their thesis statements so that each sentence meets all of the criteria for a good thesis statement.
Before you begin to write your discussion answers, think about the points made in the lecture regarding answering discussion questions. All of your answers must be in complete sentence form, and you should avoid plagiarism at all costs by citing the readings correctly and composing your own original responses. Responses that copy ideas from the Internet or from another student will be considered plagiarism and will be treated as such
