Imagine you are the IT manager for a large organization. Several of the organization’s managers have asked you what the policies are when it comes to employees using their personal devices at work. After talking to the Chief Information Officer (CIO), you discover that he likes the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) idea but wants you to provide more information regarding the company’s control of these devices and specifically the company’s ability to remote wipe a device in case it is lost or stolen. Take a position on whether or not you believe the company should have the right and the ability to remote wipe its data from an employee’s lost or stolen personal device. If you are in favor of lost devices being wiped, discuss the appropriate time to do so. Provide a rationale for your response.

In many situations, such reductions are not realized due to hidden or unexpected costs associated with the program.
