Identifying Scholarly Resources
Identify a topic of interest related to your area of practice. Perform a search in two scholarly databases for an article that is relevant to that topic. Share the name, URL, and a brief description of the two databases you located. Do not report on MEDLINE or CINAHL as these are already well-known. What databases did you select? Why?
There are four databases that really are a must for nurses to explore. They include MEDLINE, CINAHL, Cochrane Library, and the Joanna Briggs Institute. In this week's discussion, you are asked to not search CINAHL or MEDLINE, but you can still access the other two "classics" (Cochrane Library and the Joanna Briggs Institute) through our online Chamberlain Library. This week, please search two databases and report on your experience and findings.
Note: Websites for organizations such as the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, and National Institutes of Health, while providing some great information, are not considered scholarly databases in the true sense of the term. Please review this week’s lesson on databases.
