Step 1: Download your partner’s Theme Essay files from the Peer Review 1 forum and open it. Save it to your computer/saving device with a name like YourName_PeerReview1ofName.docx.

Step 2: Next, highlight the rubric below on the screen (there’s also an attached Word file, if you prefer to copy from there), then right click on your mouse and select "copy" from the menu. Move over to your peer's file that you downloaded to your computer, scroll to the bottom of the file, and right click your mouse and select "paste," putting the rubric at the very bottom of the file (below the works cited page). This will make the rubric appear in your file, and you will be able to type your responses into them, so you stay organized and don't have to flip from screen to screen as you work.

Step 3: Next, take time to read your partner’s Theme Essay and comment in the text, using something that will identify your comments (like bold, colored text that is easy to read, or the highlighter like I use when I evaluate your work). Ask questions when you get confused, comment on grammar/mechanics, and MLA style when you see things that don’t “look right” or are typos/errors. You might also point out areas of the notes where you see things working really well.

Step 4: Then, fill out the rubric below, typing into the boxes (we’ll look at an example in class). Go beyond just an X mark to briefly explain why you are checking that box. (You’ll be able to share more details in discussion.)
