(How one dresses is a form of visual rhetoric—a form of communication. People often choose to express a “sense of style” that is unique and individualized, not fitting with a certain trend or clothing category. Discuss twomoments in your life in which you wore different styles of clothing (i.e. attire on a date, to a job interview, to a funeral). What were the signs of these clothes? What or who were you trying to look like? What communication did you hope to express with these outfits? Then discuss how and why you feel fashion changes over kairos and context, who you feel influences these changes? Finally, think about how fashion is a reflection of social class, race, gender and/or power.
