Select an essay from your Week 1 readings.

Analyze the essay based upon how the writer constructed his or her arguments using opinions and evidence.

Write an essay of at least 600 words based upon how well the author constructed his or her arguments. 

Note. The essay should not be on the topic--instead, you will need to focus on how the essay was written.

Consider the following questions to guide your thinking and writing:

• Are the author's arguments strong?
• Do they prove the author's thesis statement?
• Are there any weaknesses in the essay? What are they and why are they weak? 
• How effective did the author use evidence to back up his or her opinions? Address other questions that occur to you.

Format your paper consistent with APA guidelines. Be sure to submit your paper to Grammarly in the Center for Writing Excellence before you submit it for a grade. Also use the Plagiarism Checker in the CWE.
