One. Briefly explain/describe the differences between the 3 types of conflicts in Ch 18, p. 323; and contextualize them as they would emerge in a healthcare setting.

Two. Explain how a patient’s family “Serving as a Deficit” (Ch 19, p. 339) may force the emergence of conflict either (a) between providers; or (b) between family members; or (c) between providers and family members.
Three. Provide a hypothetical or real-life example of how such a conflict may escalate even further if a provider does not understand/recognize the “Request Value of a Family Member’s Statement” (Table 19-1, p. 343).
Four. Finally, return to Ch 18 p. 328, and offer either (a) an Interest-based bargaining negotiation strategy, or (b) a Positional bargaining strategy that could be utilized to de-escalate or resolve your hypothetical conflict (from #3 above).
