1. Discuss at least three ways in which Henry David Thoreau proved himself a nonconformist. Also, discuss one of Thoreau’s works and how it reflects his nonconformist attitude. 

2. Based on our study and discussion of the enlightenment, discuss how the enlightenment was influenced by external factors such as politics, economy, and social issues. Be sure to fully explain what the enlightenment was and to relate this explanation to the factors that influenced it.

3. Given the Renaissance paintings we have studied, evaluate how religion, humanism, and art intersected during the Renaissance. Use at least two examples of art we have studied in this course as the basis of your analysis.
