Give at least one example of a building that uses the “Classical Orders.” Attach an image and cite the source. Make sure you explain your reasoning, citing examples or ideas from the reading. You might immediately think of many buildings in Washington D.C. as exhibiting ancient Greek architectural characteristics. For example, the U.S. Supreme Court building features a symmetrical architectural layout of fluted columns crowned with an adaptation of the Corinthian capital, a pediment, and a frieze. When selecting a building, also consider buildings in your community or region – for example, courthouses, museums, office buildings, etc.

Why do you think that the Ancient Greek style is still a presence in architecture? What does it communicate?
