Human resource management (HRM) is the practice of employing people, developing policies relating to the workplace, training them, compensating them, and developing strategies to retain employees. According to the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM), there are several disciplines or specialties for which a human resources (HR) manager will be responsible.
After researching the disciplines provided from the SHRM Web site, select an HR discipline that you found interesting. Then, explore and describe your chosen discipline by answering the following questions in your Discussion Board response:
- Of all the tasks a HR manager does, which do you think is the most challenging? Why?
- Address what you believe is the most important role of HR in an organization and how that role impacts the organization.
- Have you ever had to work with the HR department at your job? What was the interaction like? What was the department’s structure and role in that specific organization?
Responses to Other Students: Respond to at least 2 of your fellow classmates with at least a 100-word reply about their Primary Task Response regarding items you found to be compelling and enlightening. To help you with your discussion, please consider the following questions:
- What did you learn from your classmate's posting?
- What additional questions do you have after reading the posting?
- What clarification do you need regarding the posting?
- What differences or similarities do you use between your posting and other classmates' postings?
