How might the passage of time affect the perception of reality?

In “Alone Together,” Sherry Turkle critiques the growing presence of technology in modern life and how it affects our relationships with both ourselves and others around us.  She explores the evolving field of sociable robots, which proponents hope may one day fulfill many traditional human roles in activities ranging from caregiving to sex.  When she questions the authenticity of such relationships while talking to a reporter, she is “stunned” when he accuses her “of harboring sentiments that would put [her] squarely in the camp of those who have for so long stood in the way of marriage between homosexual couples” (Turkle 266).
 
Building upon the work that you did in the class discussions and paper 1, please use both Turkle and Gopnik’s essays to address the following question in your paper:  
 
How might the passage of time affect the perception of reality?
 
Questions to get you thinking. (Note: I don’t expect you to answer each of these in your paper.  These are just ideas to help you find points for your argument):
 
How might Turkle’s ideas about the importance of authenticity affect your understanding of Gopnik’s claims about the power of pretend play? What is the relationship between virtual life and counterfactual thinking? When we change the ways we communicate with others, what possibilities and challenges does this create? How might the development of sociable robots be related to causal thinking and blueprints?
 
Before you start writing:
Begin by making a list of connections between Gopnik and Turkle and identifying corresponding quotes. Once you have this information, it will be a lot easier to come up with an argument that incorporates both essays.

In addition, one introduction, three or four body paragraphs, one conclusion. Each body paragraph should follow the order below: Topic sentence-transition-quotation(should be a sentence) from autheor 1-analyze(not summary)-quotation from author 2-analyze-put two authors' idea together and analyze.

No need for high-level words and sentences. Just keep the words and sentences simple.
