1)      Please describe the impact of trade routes on the development of the Indian, Chinese, and Roman Empires.  What steps did the rulers of these empires specifically take to promote trade, and why?  What effects did this “world trade system” have on the development of societies across the Eastern Hemisphere?

2)      One of the key events in the first centuries AD was the development of Christianity.  Briefly describe the development of Christianity from its beginnings to the dominant religion of the Roman Empire.  What conflicts arose between this new faith and the Roman government, and why?  How did the adoption of Christianity change the Roman Empire?
