Imagine you are living in Berlin. You have just rented a new unfurnished apartment. Two famous stores which can help you furnish your place are KaDeWe and Galeria Kaufhof. You need to buy items such as the following:

1.    Toaster - der Toaster

2.    Tea Kettle - der Teekessel

3.    Plate(s) - der Teller (die Teller)

4.    Glass(es) - das Glas (die Gläser)

5.    Tea/coffee cup(s) - die Tasse (die Tassen)

6.    Bed Linens - die Bettwäsche

7.    Sofa - das Sofa (die Sofas)

8.    TV - der Fernseher (die Fernseher)

9.    Rug(s) - der Teppich (die Teppiche) 

10.  Kitchen utensils - Küchengeräte

11.  Toiletries - die Toilettenartikel

Write a short paragraph (6-8 sentences or so) in German in which you report which store you choose for your shopping, or if you will go to both stores and why. Remember to use the verb einkaufen (and other seperable-prefix verbs) like this:

Ich kaufe bei KaDeWe ein (I shop at Kaufhof des Westens), and not like this:

*Ich einkaufe bei KaDeWe.

Reasons for your choice of stores can be related to location of your apartment (you can make this up, but find an actual address of an apartment for rent online), price of goods, convenience of shopping hours, and choice of goods. Use the web sites given to complete your research, and feel free to use online blogs or articles which tell you more about each store.

Say what you are buying and where. As always, please keep it simple enough that your sentences will be clear, and readily understandable by your classmates. Remember, the idea is to use the language you have learned, and not to type hopelessly-complicated English text into a translator; you don't learn that way, and what comes out is usually nonsense.
