About the Paper

a. Choose a problem area from within the course topics, and write a paper that addresses the

problem and makes recommendations to improve the situation.

b. Paper should reference and incorporate relevant course content.

c. Please use articles from newspapers.

Paper Format

a. The problem should cover the final part of the course (1980-present day).

b. Describe the nature and extent of the problem.

c. Can legislators or policymakers help? Did legislators and/or policymakers try

to address these issues in the past? What were the consequences of these efforts? To

what extent are matters better or worse as a result?

c. What strategies would you suggest for addressing the problem?
