Your textbook states that political parties are the "essential channels for the realization of American democracy." Do they still hold up to be true? Has the need for political parties declined? Yes or no, and give evidences. (Are you affiliated with a political party? Which one? And why? How has it help you be more engaging politically? How has it not?)
