Each questions should be answered with a minimum of 250 words. No primary or secondary sources are needed, but if you refer to a document, please cite it properly using Chicago/Turabian or MLA. Word document, 12 pt Arial or Times New Roman Font.  

Use your lecture notes and the assigned readings as reference materials for your answers.  

1.  Reflect on the challenges that the South faced after the Civil War and after reconstruction.  How did the emancipation of the slaves affect life socially, culturally, and economically?

2.  How did the Spanish-American War change how the United States was seen on the global stage?  How do you think this will affect US-Foreign relations in the coming years after 1900?
