1. Give a brief summary of Richard Nixon’s involvement in the Watergate Scandal. Explain whether or not you believe that his eventual resignation from office was necessary. Justify your response.

2. Discuss two (2) areas of the United States economy that Ronald Reagan deregulated in the eighties. Explain at least two (2) methods the Reagan Administration used to deregulate these particular agencies or programs. Explain the fundamental reasons why you believe that these agencies or programs came under Reagan’s scrutiny in the first place. Provide a rationale for your response.

3. Reflecting on US presidents

I think you will find this quite interesting.  First, this is a poll taken in 2000 of major scholars in law, politics, and history, chosen from both sides of the political spectrum, ranking and rating US presidents up to that point in time.

There is another poll of historians done frequently by Sienna College and I find it interesting because it gives presidents a ranking in 20 different categories.  As you can see, none of the categories is explicitly a political category.  Some are innate capacities like intelligence or imagination.  Others are skills like relating to Congress.  This is from their 2010 poll:

So, based upon these two studies and the presidents we have specifically studied this quarter, discuss one ranking you agree with and why; one ranking you disagree with and why; and one ranking that surprised you and why.  Be sure to base your replies on historical evidence and not just on personal opinion.
