The gravitational force on the Moon due to the earth is only about one half the force on the Moon due to the sun. Why isn’t the Moon pulled away from the Earth?

Looking at the formula for gravitation pull you see that the sun's gravitational force on the moon is double the Earth's.  But remember, the Sun is also pulling the earth towards the sun.
