World View Chart Assignments
Due Weeks 2 through 10 and worth 35 points each week, with a total of 315 points.  

A world view is a fundamental or basic orientation of thinking – like a mindset – which guides a culture and / or a person’s life. Like a point of view, it can be built of concepts, ideas, values, emotions, and ethics. Weltanschauung is the German word for this idea. Your goal for this course is to understand the world views of these various religions. In order to prepare you for your final assignment, you will outline the world views of various religions in the chart below, adding to it each week.

For this assignment, students will complete the weekly area of the chart, filling in the aspects of each religion as it is presented in the readings and resources. This chart, when complete, will be the starting point for the written assignment, due in Week 10.

For each weekly submission:

1. Review the weekly lectures and supplemental materials provided, then complete the chart by elaborating on each section related to the weekly content.
2. Identify key details and examples from the weekly resources to serve as a basis for the content being recorded in your chart.
3. Write clearly and coherently using correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, and mechanics.

  In the beginning the one was God who created everything and then he created man and woman. (Adam & Eve). Adam & Ever are the origins of the Jewish people.

Nature of God/Creator

In Judaism God is God and is all-powerful. God is forgiving, punishing, and wants all his people to follow his command.

View of Human Nature

In Judaism God allowed his people to live out his command and exercise free will. God created humans in the nature of his image which they should posses justice, wisdom, love and righteousness. In Judaism it should be human nature to be responsible for the condition of the world and yourself. The Ten Commandments and Noahide Code are guidelines to life and the relationship between humans and God should be reciprocal.

View of Good & Evil

In Judaism there will always be evil and good. Anything God is Godly and anything that is evil is considered devil and of Satan. In Judaism God gave his people free will in which the choice good or evil.

View of Salvation

In Judaism “Salvation” is reached through suffering, good deeds, love for God and keeping faith.

View of After Life

In Judaism the afterlife is eternal bliss for those who are good and rise to be with God in heaven. For the evil, the afterlife is eternal damnation in hell.

Practices and Rituals

In Judaism practices and rituals include daily scripture study. Jews also must remember God in all aspects of life, through prayer and observance of the commandments. Boys must circumcise, women must take part in mikva, adultery is forbidden, food must be kosher, daily Morning Prayer, and to give thanks continually.

Celebrations & Festivals

In Judaism celebrations and festivals include Bar Mitzvahs and Bat Mitzvahs which in when a boy or girl has become a son or daughter of the commandment. Rosh Hashanah is the Jewish New Year and Yom Kippur is day repentance. Sukkot is a fall harvest festival and the Simhat Torah is a great and fun time to celebrate the Torah.
