Currently, numerous Americans lack health insurance because they are unable to pay for it. However, the number of people who do not have health insurance is relatively small as compared to the overall population. USA Today reported as of September 2010, 50.7 million Americans were uninsured. In the under 18 years of age category,

16.7 % were uninsured.
