Hazing incidents and initiations into frats/sororities are big in the news lately.  These "traditions" fuled by alcohol can be very dangerous and they are almost exclusively a part of the college culture...not to mention partying, binge drinking...the expectation that it's OK to get loaded on a regular basis...and STILL succeed in school.  No other cultural setting has that odd combination as a consistent expectation in our society...DRINKING AND THINKING...which, as you know, doesn't really go together successfully when alcohol is abused.
