Health Care Insurance
Employee sponsored health care insurance has existed for over 125 years. In the late 1800s, companies began offering their employees health insurance in occupational fields such as the railroad and mining industries. To reduce the company's cost of providing this service, wage deductions from the employees would occur.
Three questions this week on the topic of health care insurance:
1. How important is obtaining health care insurance from your employer?
2. Do you have access to health care insurance from your current employer? If so, if your care an HMO, PPO, POS, or other?
3. From the perspective of an HRM, discuss how providing employee sponsored health care can benefit in both the recruitment and retention of employees.
