Has our system of laws thrived or just survived after 200 plus years?

Comment on this quote from President Kennedy. Has our system of laws thrived or just survived after 200 plus years? 

 Include: Statuory Law (substantive & procedural); Judicial Law

Give examples why written laws are positive for an ordered society. Our system of laws cover multiple facets of life - criminal, civil, constitutional, adminstrative, case, procedural, etc.

What do our laws establish? Values, standards, morality, power relationships, system of punishment and rehabilitation. Is there equity and fairness of the law through due process?

Is it designed to ensure an ordered society?

Discuss the constitutional amendments: 4th, 5th, 6th, 8th, and 14th. Are they soley for the protection of the accused or are they supposed to protect all citizens? How?
