 GSP 169: Religion in the Modern World

Note:
1. The discussion starts at noonof 4 April 2014 and will last until 2359 hours of 14 April 2014
2. Between noon of 4 April 2014 and 2359 hours of 14 April 2014, you should make at least four (4) postings. 
3. One of your postings must be in direct response to the discussion question below (about 150 words), while additional postings should be in response to those from other students (each about 40-60 words).
• Try to space out your posts during the period of the discussion. In this way you can add to the development of the discussion.

4. In your posts, you need to demonstrate that you

• understand the course materials

• can apply the concepts, and

• can bring together the reading materials and develop new insights to the discussion topic on hand.

Hence, at least one of your posts should comment on, or respond to what other students have posted (for example, have they had their facts and theories right; have they applied them correctly and in what way? 6. You should think of as many perspectives as you can in your discussion. Do not get stuck in one view point!

7. You will be graded according to the following criteria:

i. Depth of understanding of course materials (demonstrates an understanding of concepts learnt)

ii. Reflection and interpretation (demonstrates the ability to analyze the issues)

iii. Uniqueness (ability to connect a discussion with new, valid ideas)

iv. Quality of writing (is able to present coherent argument)

v. Number of postings (at least 4)

8. Write in full and proper sentences with correct punctuation and spelling, like you would in an essay.

“Life with its changes and much distraction/attraction, I can’t look too far ahead. To be honest with you, future is worrisome.” How can a religious belief help to stabilize the person? Discuss and give your responses based on the teachings of the 5 religions in our course work.
