Group Memberships

profileawalt6923

We all participate or identify with many groups. Sometimes we even participate in several groups at the same time (e.g., members of a family playing basketball with neighbors). Make a list of all the groups you identify with. Consider nationality, ethnicity, geographic region, interests, and hobbies (e.g., U.S., German-American, Californian, surfers, and skiers.) Provide a norm (standard or rule of behavior) for each group. (Remember that a norm is an action, not a value.) Which groups' norms do you follow most often? Respond to at least two of your fellow students' postings by Day 7. (You must create one initial post and at least two responses, for a minimum of three posts for this discussion.)

Group Membership

A group is a collection consisting of people who have some common characteristics or a purpose. As we grow up we all participate and identify with many groups. At times we find ourselves participating is more than one group at the same time. For example, members of a family playing football or basketball with their neighbors. I have participated in different groups. Some of the groups I identify with include.

1. Texas Junior Achiever.

2. Photography Club.

3.  Music meets in San Antonio.

 4. "When Students do the Teaching" program.
All groups have norms and have their own standard rules and values that help to govern each and everyone in the group. For the groups mentioned above, the following are their norms and rules that govern them. The first group is  junior achievers. The group's norm is to have a business idea that everyone in the group is working on so as to develop one's income. The group has one general idea at the same time where everyone has a role. The second group is photography. The norm takes amazing photographs whenever one can and shares them with the rest of the group during meetings. Rules are to follow the techniques of good photography we learn during our meetings. The third group, music, this group entails majorly about having fun, we meet up to discuss themes in different music's genres. Finally group four, peer teaching, this is a school class group where we teach each other in areas where we are poor in so as to improve our grades. The rules here are always to try to improve our grades. I mostly follow norms of the photography and peer teaching group, since photography is fun and peer teaching helps me improve my grades.
