1. The average American consumes 20 times more energy than the average Indian citizen (Worldwatch Institute, 2011). How do you feel about this and why? How does this relate to the causes of environmental problems? Your answer should include a thorough explanation of your position.
    

2. Identify the four (4) basic causes of environmental problems facing the planet today. Be sure to discuss each one individually and provide examples in each case.
    

3. Analyze the earth as a system with material and energy inputs and outputs. Try to identify dangerous positive feedback loops. Design a few sample strategies that can help bring the earth into balance.
    

4. How do we as humans disrupt and simplify natural ecosystems for our food, clothing, shelter, and energy needs and wants?

    

5. Discussion Question:  What would it take, in your opinion, for human development to be truly sustainable, both in the less-developed and more-developed countries?
