formal and informal communication
Short-essay. 1-2 pages. DUE DATE IS VERY IMPORTANT!!! I NEED IT TOMMOROW BEFORE 10 A.M.
In order to accomplish organizational objectives, effective and accurate communication must take place. But communication comes along many channels and with a wide range of differing content. Often the critical instructions are not formally delivered but come through back channels, non-verbal communication, or informal direction. Can you think of a work situation where your supervisors provided you with critical information through informal channels? What did the formal channels communicate? Why was it necessary to add informal communication to get the proper results? Can you think of ways in which a formal process could have accomplished that result? What would it have required for the organization to have formally communicated what was informally communicated? Would it have been more or less efficient for formal communication? What does this suggest about how organizations communicate internally?
