To find the center of gravity (c.g.) of the meter stick, place it on a smooth tabletop with the zero end to your left.  Put a round pencil (not one with the little flat sides) under the stick at about its midpoint.  Either place a small book on the end of the pencil away from you or use some “Scotch tape” to stabilize its position.  Carefully reposition the stick left or right to try to balance it on the pencil.  This balance point is the “center of gravity” (c.g.) of the meter stick.  You may not be able to balance it exactly but you can still find the c.g. to the nearest tenth of a centimeter (example:  49.5 cms).  Log this value of the c.g. on the data sheet
