Step 1 Evaluate / Screen Stocks

The objective of this discussion is to create a list of 5 stocks and 5 ETFs. There are numerous

websites that have good stock screening tools such as Morningstar and Yahoo. You may use

any stock screener. Some examples are:

1. Provide a list of 5 stocks screened. What screens did you use and why?

2. Note on the volatility, beta, and valuation ratios (dividend yield, P/E ratio,

etc.) relative to peers, for each stock.

We will examine ETFs (Exchange Traded Funds) next. For this part of the assignment you

need to use:

1. Provide a list of 5 ETFs screened with parameters of your choosing. Out of

5, you need to include at least 2 non-equity ETFs. These can be ETFs tracking

the return on a bond index, commodity, etc.

2. What are the \Investment Themes" of each ETF?

1. Please summarize your explanations with regards to the stock and ETF selections in a few

paragraphs for your discussion and explain why you think these securities are good picks.
