Community Outreach and Partnerships

Most of the focus of this course, in terms of cross-cultural communications, has been on the communications within the walls of the health care organization. What other types of activities might support effective communication with various cultural groups?

In your initial post for this discussion:

• Identify and describe two outreach activities that might improve cultural communications. Explain how those activities might support improved quality of care and decrease disparities among groups.
• Describe how community outreach or the development of partnerships might lower economic and cultural barriers to quality health care.
• Describe any other advantages or benefits to the community that you could envision from this type of outreach.
