F-value and P- value
There was a significant main effect of Gender on GPA improvement F(1, 234) = 2.651, p = .011).
If seems like there is something done incorrectly here. The P value is .105, not .01. That would make this difference not significant.

There was no significant interaction effect of Environment X Sex on GPA improvement as F(2, 234) = 45.688, p = .281).

It appears that the number from the table was copied incorrectly. An F value in excess of 45 is going to be highly significant. You used the partial ETA coefficient instead.

The (2) for Environment is 0.397, it means that proportion of variance accounted for Environment is 39.7%. The effect for Environment is large.
The (2) for Gender is 0.011, it means that proportion of variance accounted for Environment is 1.1%. The effect for Gender is small.
Eta squared for environment = 4.696/14.677 = .32
Eta squared for interaction of environment X sex of student = 2.78/14.677 = .19
Interpretation: the effect sizes for both the main effect of study environment and the interaction of study environment X sex of student were large

Follow up Tests

The interaction between Environment and Sex was not statistically significant in the model. We can see that the GPA improvement for females is better than the males.

This appears to be problematic. It seems that the source table was misread.
