It can be said that faith justifies or that it “sanctifies” an individual (“makes holy” or makes imbued with the Holy Spirit—see 1 John 3–5, Galatians 3: 2, 5, and John 4: 10–14), is there a need for any real organization; that is, for any formally constituted Church? Luther obviously believes so. What do you think Luther’s rationale for having an organized church is? Do you think Luther would consider it possible to be a Christian without being part of a church? Why or why not?
