(1)Find three articles that deal with wardrobe planning for college students OR young professionals. These may be "popular" articles rather than "peer reviewed" articles. Read the articles. Summarize the articles in one or two paragraphs. Do NOT summarize each article separately. Rather, find some things that might be common to two or all three articles, discuss that, then also discuss other things in the articles. Put the information in your own words.
Submit the summary to Forums. Be sure to cite where the articles can be located. If it is a website, the web address listed should take one directly to the article.
(2) Take a look at your clothing resources. How would you characterize your clothing wardrobe? Do you have mostly casual clothes? Could you put together appropriate attire for a variety of occasions? If invited to a fall football game, would you be ready to go in 10 minutes? If invited to go skiing in the Rockies, would you be packed within an hour? If you were invited to a formal dinner at the home of a college president or if you were invited to the Governor's Ball, would you have something acceptable to wear this Saturday? Do you have a good AMOUNT of clothing? That is, do you need to do laundry every three days in order to have clean clothes to wear? Or do you have so many clothes that you don't even know what you have (or maybe can't find what you want when you want it)? Do your clothes all belong in the green family, or the blue family? Do you have so many different colors that nothing goes together? Do you use a "small pallet" of colors to build your wardrobe around, for ease in mixing and matching? Do you have clothes that you wear repeatedly? Do you have clothes in your closet that you have never worn (in a year)?
1. GENERALIZATIONS:
Give thoughtful consideration to your clothes wardrobe, then come up with 10 generalizations regarding the state of your closet. List the 10 generalizations. Let your statements/generalizations show that you have truly analyzed your current clothing situation. (Please list these vertically, NOT in a run-on sentence or paragraph. A bulleted or numbered list is appropriate.)
2. TRANSITION:
How will you transition from your current wardrobe TO a young professional wardrobe? Based on the clothing that you currently have, and assuming that within the next year or two you secure a position in an organization where sweats and jeans are not appropriate dress, what will you need to do to be able to have an appropriate wardrobe?
For this portion of the assignment, discuss the clothing items you might discard from your wardrobe and items you might add to your wardrobe. Be specific. Discuss color, costs, care, and so forth.
3. RESOURCE USE:
Discuss the interrelationship of the resources TIME, personal ENERGY, and MONEY as it relates to clothing. (Management is the decision-making process of planning, implementing, and evaluating the use of resources to obtain goals.)
