An executive summary is a 1-page document that outlines the purpose, process, findings, discussion, and findings of a report that is submitted to management. Chief executive officers (CEOs) often read and assess executive summaries before deciding to read entire reports, so this must be a high-quality narrative that demonstrates the significance of the work that is being undertaken, the objectivity of research and analysis underpinning the report, and the credibility of the resulting conclusions.
