Oceanographers consider there to be only one ocean: the global ocean. Since water mixes from basin to basin about every 1,000 years, they form one continuous oceanic mass. The boundaries of the oceans are divided into the Atlantic, Pacific, Indian, Arctic, and Southern (Antarctic) Oceans.

The boundaries between these five oceans arose over time for a variety of historical, cultural, geographical, and scientific reasons. The Southern Ocean is the newest ocean. The boundaries of this ocean were set in 2000 by the International Hydrographic Organization.

***I would like you to choose the anyone but the Pacific or Indian as several students have already done these.
