excel 2010 expert needed: advanced skills for custom sort creation and possibly pivot table/chart

am working on an excel 2010 worksheet and i need the help of an excel expert.

worksheet it only has two columns - date and amount.

data should be subtotaled by FY year based on the guidelines below:

07/01/2008 - 06/30/2009   to be called FY 2009

07/01/2009 - 06/30/2010   to be called FY 2010

07/01/2010 - 06/30/2011   to be called FY2011

07/01/2011 - 06/30/2012   to be called FY 2012

07/01/2012 - 06/30/2013   to be called FY 2013

07/01/2013 - 06/30/2014   to be called FY2014

07/01/2014 - 06/30/2015   to be called FY 2015

from the table, i'd like to create a chart using only the FY subtotals.  

i think that pivot table is the key (am not sure though).  i can't figure out how to create the custom date range.  it is still yearly but i need to create my own year definitions.

this is a quick turnaround, need it by 5:00 am EST (NY time) at the latest, sooner is appreciated.  small file of data with a little less than 700 rows.
