Original jurisdiction is granted to the U.S. Supreme Court in Article III, Section 2 for certain matters. Note that although the court may have jurisdiction, it may in its discretion refuse to exercise it. In fact, the Supreme Court hears very few of the cases presented to it. Can you think of why this might be a good practice to limit its review authority?
