Introduction: Precipitation often plays a part in aviation accidents. In this activity, you will be reading an accident investigation and determining its cause.

Directions: This is group activity. You should begin working on it early in the week, so you will have time to formulate a group response.

    1. Read the newspaper article from the Cincinnati Enquirer linked below:

    3. You may want to refer to the temperature profile in Figure 7.26 of the textbook and the associated text in Chapter 7.

    4. It is most important that you discuss the accident with your group using the group pages. Select the Collaboration Activity link above to access the Group Pages.

Assignment: For this activity, you are to work with your group to create an accident report similar to the example Cover Page, Abstract, and Executive Summary for an NTSB Aircraft Accident Report. See the examples linked below.

Your report should include these items only:

    • description of the crash event
    • determination of the cause
    • the safety issues involved
