Book Review 

The book to be reviewed is Diminished Democracy: From Membership to Management in American 

Civic Life by Theda Skocpol (Normal OK, University of Oklahoma Press, 2003). The review is to be 

approximately 3000 words in length. Papers are to be double spaced and prepared using Times New Roman 

Font set at 12 points. The review comes at the end of the term, so students at that point should have a strong 

grasp of the history, theory, and development of ideas related to workplace democracy and associated 

theories and practices. Consequently, their book review should be both insightful and critically analytical, 

making use of what they have learned from the material covered in the course.
