Essay response question
In chapter 8 of textbook, Professor Ede asks us to 'read rhetorically.' That is, she wants us to understand that the author has a purpose for writing, but that when we are reading, we are not merely absorbing information. We are actively engaging with the text--judging the trustworthiness of what the author says, balancing their argument against our own worldview, and trying to fit the information in with our own perceptions. Ultimately, we may decide to accept what the author is telling us, or to reject it.
